Finding the right cast to become the spokespeople for a new genomic blood test was vital for this project. There is significant mistrust within the sickle cell and blood disease communities, due to poor treatment options and historic lack of care. Jayson and Hazel were perfect for their role of bringing together patients and treatments and each brought something vital to the film. Both were open, with just the right about of scepticism, which was what we needed. They interacted beautifully with the medical and scientific contributors in this piece, and their authenticity brings confidence to other patients.
